The Board of Elections would like to calm fears of voters worried about potential quarantines or lock-downs from the COVID-19 pandemic. The April Presidential Primary and Early Voting has been postponed until June.

Unable to print your form, call our office at 607-778-2172 and we'll mail you out an Absentee Application.


The New York State Presidential Primary Election has been Postponed from April until June.


Now all Local, State, Congressional and Presidential Primaries will be on the same dates.


Primary Early Voting:

  • Begins - Saturday, June13th

  • Ends - Sunday, June 21st

Primary Election Day

  • Tuesday, June 23rd

Due to the ever-changing COVID-19 Pandemic the NYS Petition process is changing.


The Governor and State Assembly/Senate took action to end petition collecting on Tuesday, March 17th and reduced the number of signatures required from 5% to 1.5% of affiliated voters of each district.


This adjustment represents a 70% reduction in the numbers required by candidates.


The signature requirements are listed below or the PDF is available for view/download here.


Petition filing is March 17th-20th from 9am-5pm:


  • Offices encompassed exclusively in Broome County should be turned into the Broome County Board of Elections office (if the doors of the office building are locked, ring bell or call 607-778-2172)

  • Cross-County Line Offices must be turned into the New York State Board of Elections (call the State Board for their updated pandemic procedures at 518-474-1953).
